Jonathan Roman

Managing Director

Jonathan Roman | MRICS | MCInstCES | CCES | GVC

Jonathan brings over 29 years of industry experience to Sigma Surveys, having previously worked with some of the largest survey companies throughout the UK. As a full member of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (Chartered ICES) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), he has a strong professional foundation within the industry. Jonathan is also GVC qualified for UAV operations in the UK and holds an RYA National Powerboat Level 2 license, further enhancing his expertise in surveying and field operations.

Richard Rennie

Director / Partner

Richard Rennie | HND Civil Engineering | GVC

Richard holds an HND in Civil Engineering and brings 28 years of experience in land, engineering  and building surveying. Since transitioning from a site management role in 2009, he has played a key role in developing Sigma Surveys into a prominent geomatics organisation. Richard is also GVC qualified for UAV operations in the UK and has an RYA National Powerboat Level 2 license, further complementing his expertise in the field.

Allan McKay

Principal Surveyor

Allan McKay | ProQual Level 3 | GVC

Allan started his career at Loy Surveys in 2001, working as a trainee surveyor while attending The Survey School run by The Survey Association (TSA). This training provided him with comprehensive knowledge in land and measured building surveying. Allan joined Sigma Surveys in its inaugural year and has been a key player in its success. He brings extensive experience in measured building surveying as well as 3D laser scanning and has conducted surveys across Europe and Africa. Allan is also GVC qualified for UAV operations within the UK.

Gerry Quail

Principal Surveyor

Gerry Quail | BSc (Hons)

Gerry graduated with Honours in Geographic Information and Mapping Science from Glasgow University in 2005. After starting his career offshore and gaining international experience, he joined Loy Surveys in Renfrew, where he worked for 11 years. Currently, as a Principal Surveyor at Sigma Surveys, Gerry is working towards full membership with both the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (Chartered ICES) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Paul Mayes

Principal Surveyor

Paul Mayes | BSc (Hons)

Paul holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Topographic Science from Glasgow University and has accumulated 26 years of industry experience with various geomatics firms across Scotland. He is currently working towards full membership with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to become a fully chartered surveyor.  Paul also holds a EUSR National Water Hygene Card for work on Scottish Water sites.

Michael Mowbray | BSc | MSc | GVC

Michael graduated with a BSc in Construction Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, followed by an MSc in Geospatial and Mapping Sciences from the University of Glasgow. He brings over 23 years of experience in land and engineering surveying, gained through a range of civil engineering and geomatics companies across Scotland.  In addition to his extensive surveying experience, Michael holds a General VLOS Certificate (GVC), enabling him to undertake commercial UAV operations throughout the UK. He is also working towards achieving Chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), further strengthening his professional qualifications and industry expertise.

Simon Brown

Simon Brown | GVC

Simon brings 27 years of industry experience, with extensive involvement in large-scale topographical surveys and machine control installations across Europe and Africa. He is GVC qualified for UAV operations in the UK and is working towards full membership with the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (Chartered ICES).

Forbes Martin

Surveyor

Forbes Martin | CST

Forbes began his surveying career in 2014 in New Zealand as a trainee topographical surveyor. In 2016 he moved to New York, where he spent seven years working on high-rise engineering projects and topographical surveying.  During his time in the U.S., Forbes earned Certified Survey Technician Accreditation through the National Society of Professional Surveyors, gaining in-depth knowledge of land and measured building surveying. After relocating again in 2023, Forbes joined Sigma Surveys, bringing extensive experience in topographical surveys, measured building surveying, 3D laser scanning, and site engineering.

Callum Dowds

Surveyor

Callum Dowds | BSc

Callum holds a BSc in Earth Sciences from Glasgow University. He started his career with Maptek, where he worked on scanning mines and quarries in 2012. He moved on to gain more experience with other survey companies and joined Sigma Surveys in 2021.

Connor Leadbeatter | BSc (Hons) | GVC

Connor holds a BSc (Hons) in Product Design & Innovation, bringing both a creative and technical perspective to his role. He began his career with Mitie in 2023 as a CAD Technician, where he was introduced to 3D scanning and drone-inspection workflows and quickly found his passion. His focus on precision and innovative problem-solving makes him a valuable contributor to both surveying and design-development projects.

Jennifer Roman

Accounts Manager

Jennifer Roman | BSc (Hons)

Jennifer joined Sigma Surveys in 2019 and is responsible for all accounting and administrative duties. She previously spent 20 years in the biotechnology industry working as a Project Manager.
