Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
Sigma Surveys were approached to tender to undertake a full survey of The Glasgow Royal Concert by Arup and Civic Design Partnership. We were the successful tenderer for the project which included a topographical survey, measured building survey, elevation survey, roof plan and cross sections. The elevations were undertaken using a Leica C10 HD Laser Scanner to generate a point cloud which was then traced from within AutoCAD. The scanner was also utilised within the building to create a model of the auditorium and various rooms to aid with drawing the cross sections. The general arrangement floorplan was surveyed using MBS building software with Bluetooth Distos using the footprint (surveyed by the scanner) to control the rooms from window centrelines. We delivered an extremely accurate AutoCAD drawing and Tru-View which not only enabled our client to work with a familiar deliverable, but also gave the client the ability to utilise a new piece of free software to pan around the building using rectified photography from the scanners perspective.
