Sigma Survey were approached by Threesixty Architecture to produce a detailed elevation and cross section of Carlowrie Castle in Kirkliston. We based our fee on undertaking the survey with a Leica C10 HD Laser Scanner as this was the most appropriate piece of equipment to generate detailed AutoCAD drawings from. We scanned the full exterior of the building from several locations to ensure the full building was scanned with minimal shadowing. We also scanned the interior of the building through the main foyer, up the stairwell and into the rooms where the client had requested the section to be located. To generate the section, we simply sliced through the scan and connected the dots with a continuous polyline to generate a detailed section through the specific area. We delivered an extremely accurate AutoCAD drawing and Tru-View which not only enabled our client to work with a familiar deliverable, but also gave the client the ability to utilise a new piece of free software to pan around the castle using rectified photography from the scanners perspective.
