At Sigma Surveys, we are able to provide our clients with various water based surveys. These include hydrographic surveys, bathymetric surveys and river cross sections. Our surveyors are RYA and ICC trained for using boats to carry out hydrographic and bathymetric surveys. We attach a Trimble R8 GPS antenna to the boat and pair it via Bluetooth to a Trimble SonarMite echo sounder. The Trimble system enables us to accurately scan the river bed in 3 dimensions before exporting to our AutoCAD based survey software. We can then create a 3D model related to OS datum or Chart datum, if required. For river cross sections, we combine our Trimble S6 total station and R8 GPS to accurately survey cross sections at various locations throughout a water course. Once the data has been gathered from site, we export into RXS software giving the surveyor a seamless operation to generate the long and short sections. With RXS software we can output to HEC-RAS, ISIS and MIKE 11.
