Laser scanning has brought high definition to the surveying industry.

The Leica ScanStation C10 is the most complete laser scanner on the market and is faster, more accurate and user-friendly than its predecessors. The use of such a scanner allows Sigma Surveys to provide its clients with higher accuracy surveys and deliver point cloud data which can be manipulated in software such as AutoCAD and SketchUp. The C10 can measure 50k points per second and has a full 360° x 270° field-of-view over a range of 300m. Together with the integrated RGB camera, a full 360° scan can be completed in around 10 minutes capturing everything within the specified area. The point cloud created can either be displayed with intensity mapping or true RGB colours to give the cloud a ‘street view’ look. Once in AutoCAD or SketchUp, the points can be traced or rendered to produce a typical drawing worked on by an architectural department.

Click here to request a free version of Leica TruView which will enable the user to view, pan, zoom, measure and mark up the point cloud from the scanner's perspective over the web.
